Requirements for HW3php.

Basic Requirements:

HAMweather 3 is plug-in based, thus each plug-in may have its own special requirements. But the following table contains a list of the requirements for the core HW3 flat file distribution and its included plug-ins. Remember to review the requirements for any future plug-ins you may install.

Web Account

You must have an account to store www pages on a Unix, Linux, Windows based web server

PHP

You must have PHP 4.09 or higher installed on your server. 

File Permissions

On Unix servers, you will need to have the ability to set and change file permissions either through FTP or telnet.  On windows servers you may not need to set file permissions, or if you do you normally will have to contact your provider if using a virtual server..

FTP Access

You will need to have FTP access to the web directories on your server.  An account with Front Page only access does not count.  Telnet access would be a plus, but is not needed.

Optional Telnet
or SSH Access

While not needed, telnet or SSH access can be useful in troubleshooting the HAMweather installation.  While most Unix/Linix servers will allow for this, normally Windows servers do not.

 

Optional SQL Requirements:

Normally you can use HAMweather 3 with the included flat file databases, but if you prefer to use HW3 with the optional SQL database instead then you will need to have the following additional requirements:

SQL Database Additional Requirements for Optional SQL database usage:
  • Mysql:
    • PHP installed with mysql support.
    • Access to utilize a mysql database on the server
  • MS Access/ MS SQL:
    • PHP installed with ODBC support.
    • Access to create (or have system admin) create a system DSN for the database.
